Shooting houses

Good old Final Cut

Good old Final Cut

This week was busy with fun - I shot my first real estate video!

I do real estate photography on the photo team at Windermere Vashon, and we are considering adding video to our services, so I will be shooting and editing a few videos over the next month or so, to see what the agents think/want.

This first video was a challenge because it was the first, and because I was trying out a new-to-me camera (a small stabilized auto setup) and also shooting with my camera on a non-video tripod (terrible idea, but it’s what I have), in an occupied house (always harder, but COVID-19 means people can’t just catch a movie while you work).

The first version linked here is long - the agent wanted to do a voiceover describing the features of the house, but I also have on a shorter edit, without the voiceover. In this case, the voiceover is helpful, because the house has so many features! It is a gorgeous house, with perfect details, and perfect for entertaining guests.

I hope to see great improvement as I learn this type of video, and get familiar with the equipment. This is where me being a geek is an advantage, I can research and try things and obsess a bit on how to do things better, and it will pay off in quality, and fun.

For now, check out the video:
