These days, these days
This is a photo of food from the Wild Mermaid, here on Vashon. Back in the land where we got together and ate food, and life was differently hard. Last night we ate there, on the deck, watching the waves, after my long day editing real estate video, and it was spectacular. Figs and fresh mozzarella, food we didn’t make ourselves, and we got to see our good friends who work there.
I haven’t been blogging a lot, but time is passing. I got a stand up paddle board! Used as it was retired from a rental fleet. We picked it up in Port Gamble, a tiny spot with a violent history, and my paddle was cut to size by a man who’d never cut a paddle before. It took awhile for him to psych himself up, and we took a walk up the road. We were in the cemetery when we heard the cut. That paddle has been lost, and replaced by another. It was oddly hard to find. Everyone is indulging in water sports apparently due to the pandemic.
School just started for my son, he does it by phone and online now, and I’m thrilled that all of his wonderful teachers are so wonderful and kind, because he needs it. Like we all do, just a bit of something new, someone else to talk to, new things to consider.
I’m sad to see the end of summer, as I usually am, only more so.
