Slow Bad Dust

Small Towns of Washington State- 2016 - present

I started photographing Small Towns in Washington state largely because I live in a small town, and I love roadtrips. My first trip for this project was to Skykomish, a town I fell in love with when I saw it from a cross-country train in 1994. After that I travelled to Winthrop, Snoqualmie, Index, Edison, Roslyn, La Connor, Cle Elum, Key Center, Forks, Waterville, Burley, Purdy, Twisp, Sultan, Gold Bar, and sixty other towns, finding people and places that were mundane, and people and places beyond my imagination.

In 2018 I presented a selection of photos from Small Towns at the Hastings-Cone Gallery on Vashon, with the help of a 4Culture grant.
