Mining Operation

This project began as a way to examine trauma—what it does to people, to land, and what comes next.

I started with wondering how someone looks at a forest, mountain, or a person and sees only what they can take. It became about what happens, how things keep living after what they were has been destroyed.

These photos are of things that are mined, or have been mined in one way or another. All were photographed in Washington State.

This is an excerpt from a longer body of work, this selection was shown in a preview exhibition.
