Spring is here! I'm happy to live in the Northwest, where spring comes early, stays late. In February the Indian Plum leaves are out, green as can be, and that's when I officially start spring. Before that there are plenty of baby nettles, and the little greens start to appear, but for whatever reason I count from Indian Plum with its bitter-cucumber tasting leaves.
Spring for me is ambition and energy - I've been editing photos for a winter wedding, for Seattle Distilling, and for a local artist and business person, but I'm also reading book after book (from instructional and technical to inspirational and odd), planning personal projects, taking iphone pictures as sketches for photos I want to take as soon as possible, making notes and sketches in books and on odd bits of paper as well as official places like my notebook or my phone.
Yesterday I walked my favorite Vashon walk, and kept stopping to take pictures with my phone - something I don't even like to do because I always wish I was carrying my camera instead - having a good lens is worth the weight and inconvenience, but i forget. So now I get to plan another walk, in my favorite place; it's just like that in spring, the list gets long fast, and there is so much that needs to be done!
Weddings are rolling in too, with site visits and consultations stacking up - it's so fun to meet new people, and to get to know them, their ideas and loves, the ways they choose to honor and present their relationship. Weddings are a spring of their own.
